Prior to August 30th, 2017, "Doing Jazz" was known as "Doing Art".
Lauren Lee is a forward-thinking vocalist, pianist, and composer based in New York City on a wild goose chase of sorts to find her own sound in the adventurous music scene as a young innovator. Likened both to the female jazz pioneers that came before her as well as artists like Regina Spektor and Bjork, Lee's compositions and improvisational style nestle between straight-ahead sensibilities and avant-garde techniques. Her critically-acclaimed second album as a leader, "Windowsill" was released October 2019 on ears and eyes records and features a quartet with Brad Mulholland on woodwinds, Marcos Varela on bass, and Andy O'Neill on drums.
